Syria has emphasized its firm stance to fully back the national resistance against the Israeli " onslaughts" in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, the official SANA news agency reported on Saturday.
The ruling al-Baath party made the stance during a meeting Friday evening in which party officials claimed that the Israeli " aggression" is "part of the U.S.-Zionist scheme targeting the Arab Nation's present and future."
Reviewing the latest dangerous developments of the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza strip and Lebanon, the party officials "hailed President Bashar al-Assad's role and wisdom to express the Syrian people's support to the resistance and steadfastness in facing all pressures and threats", said SANA.
Meanwhile, they also condemned the "comprehensive" war and the state terrorism perpetrated by Israel and backed by the U.S., SANA added.
Tensions between Israel and Lebanon have been drastically heightened since Wednesday when Hizbollah militants kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others in a border clash with Israeli troops.
In response, Israel waged air raids on Lebanese targets and blockaded Lebanese sea ports.
