Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Sunday for the outreach session of the Group of Eight (G8) summit scheduled for Monday.
At the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the Chinese president will attend Monday's outreach session of the G8 summit, along with leaders of other developing countries.
At the session, the leaders are expected to discuss energy security, fighting infectious diseases, education, Africa development, weapons non-proliferation and other issues.
On the sidelines of the summit, Hu will have a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Russia and India as well as a group meeting with leaders from India, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico and the Republic of Congo, said Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai at a news briefing in Beijing on July 12.
Cui said Hu will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with some of the leaders present at the summit.
