Zambia beats Mozambique 2-1 in Africa Youth Championship opening
font size

The Zambian under-23 football team opened the Africa Youth Championship match Saturday in Maputo, Mozambique with a convincing win of 2-1 over host, local media reported.

Sources reaching Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) said Chisamba Lungu of Zambia scored in the fourth minute of the first half while his teammate Steven Sakala secured the victory by hitting the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

Lungu, however, was sent-off with a red card after committing a bookable offence in the second half.

The win gave the Zambian lads an advantage over their rival in the return match scheduled in a fortnight's time in Lusaka, ZANIS said.
