Indonesian leader to meet Arab envoys to convey stance over Israel

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will hold a meeting with ambassadors from Arab states Tuesday to take stance over Israel following military operations against Palestine and Lebanon.

"The president will summon envoys from Arab states tomorrow to discuss the matters," presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal was qouted Monday by the National Antara news agency as saying.

Dino said the meeting between Yudhoyono and Arab envoys would be conducted in the midst of the outcries from various parties in Indonesia asking the government to take more concrete and stronger stances over the Israeli military aggression.

Susilo during a visit to Aceh Friday called on Israel to stop military attacks on Palestine and urged the United Nations and international community to take concerted measures to prevent the conflict in the Middle East from escalating.

"The UN and international community should take concrete measures together to prevent the conflict in the Middle East from widening," Susilo said.
