A U.S. soldier died on Monday of wounds sustained by small arms fire in west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.
The Multi-national Forces soldier died at 12:55 p.m. (0855 GMT) on Monday after he received wounds earlier in the day, the military said in a brief statement.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement added.
Earlier on Monday, the military said that another U.S. soldier was killed on Sunday by a roadside bomb blast in southern Baghdad.
The latest deaths have brought to more than 2,540 the number of U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
