Iran warns Israel against attacks on Lebanon
font size

Iran warned on Tuesday that every part of Israel's territory could be attacked during its battle with Lebanese Hezbollah.

"No part of Israel will be safe, the towns you built in northern Palestine (Israel) are within the range of the brave Lebanese children," parliament speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel told thousands of Tehranis attending an anti-Israel rally in Palestine Square.

He said that Lebanese and Palestinians have their rights to fight against Israel, because the country detained a lot of Lebanese and Palestinians in its prisons.

The speaker also warned the United States against support for Israel anymore.

"You must suspend your support for Israel, or you don't expect peace and compromise with the world," he said.

Meanwhile, Adel praised Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, hailing him as a "courageous lion."

Over the past few days, Iran has repeated its condemnation of Israel's offensives on Lebanese targets and praised Hezbollah for launching attacks on Israel.

"They (Israel) want Lebanon to be a meat in their mouth, but the powerful Hezbollah has prevented their dream from being realized," Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a televised speech on Sunday.

Former President Mohammad Khatami also hailed Hezbollah as "a radiant sun that emblazes and warms all Muslims and free nations, including the Palestinians."

"What is going on in Lebanon today eliminates all the possible doubts about the necessity for the powerful presence of the resistance movement in that country," said Khatami.

Israel has accused Iran of supporting Hezbollah in secret through providing military personnel, saying there are more than 100 members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards in Lebanon working as consultants for Hezbollah.

The Israeli army also said that Iran provided long-range missiles which can cover Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, claiming that the missile attacking an Israeli warship last Friday was made by Iran.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi rejected all the accusations.

Israel launched its offensive last Wednesday on Lebanon in retaliation for the capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah militants.

Meanwhile, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres said on Tuesday that over 1,500 rockets and missiles have been fired at Israel since the battle broke out.
