Chinese, S. African communist parties to increase exchanges

Senior officials of the communist parties of China and South Africa pledged on Wednesday to increase exchanges and push for relations between the two nations.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said in a meeting with Secretary General of the South African Communist Party (SACP) Blade Nzimande that China and South Africa have enjoyed constant development of friendly and cooperative relations since forging diplomatic ties.

The SACP plays an important role in the political, economic and social development of South Africa, and makes a great contribution to promoting China-South Africa relations, Li said, noting that the CPC values the friendly ties with the SACP.

"The CPC is ready to enhance relations with the SACP and other major political parties of South Africa in an effort to push for the bilateral relations between the two countries," said Li.

Li also briefed the guests on the CPC's drive of ideological building.

Nzimande expressed his congratulations for the CPC's effective practice on preserving the party's advanced nature, saying that the SACP was willing to learn from the CPC's experience on state governing and to further expand exchanges with the CPC in order to enhance the all-round development of bilateral relations between South Africa and China.

Nzimande and his delegation are visiting China from July 16 to 23 at the invitation of the CPC. Besides Beijing, the delegation will also visit Changchun, capital city of northeast China's Jilin Province.
