This weekend, former junior lightweight and junior welterweight champion Gatti will take on the WBC welterweight titlist who stunned the whole world by thrashing hot favorite Zab Judah at the beginning of this year.
This will be an intriguing game to watch. Both fighters have the very attribute that can not only excite the audience but also end the fight in a dramatic way.
In the welterweight division, no one brings in money like Gatti. He has thrilled the boxing fans with his fists and heart, sometimes his blood as well. Victorious or not, Gatti has retained his fans not by wins or losses, but by the way he fought. Also he has a concrete chin and has registered some of the most sensational knockouts. In his last fight against Thomas Daamgard, Gatti did incredible damage to his rival, dismantling the durable Daamgard with a gorgeous win in the late round which is one of the best fights I've ever seen.
The current WBC crown Baldomir also made a glorious fight behind him. After making the "superman" Judah teeter like a underdog and outclassing the hot favorite, the Argentina native became a Cinderella man and gained a lofty perch in the welterweight division.
In my opinion, Gatti has a bigger chance of winning than Baldomir. Baldomir seems to be just the kind of opponent tailored for Gatti. He is a pressure fighter, a guy who will make you fight from the beginning to end. He is exceptionally aggressive and is always in good shape. Nonetheless, he is painfully slow of hand and foot, the two attributes which have been the disadvantages for Gatti. This is just the type of fighter Gatti is good at fighting.
Moreover, Baldomir is not versatile in his fighting patterns and is not an outstanding offensive fighter while Gatti's faster and heavier hands will be able to break Baldomir down.
Last but not the least, Gatti won't come more aggressive than Baldomir, but he won't come any more average than him too.
