font size

A landslide blocked the central Arniko Highway, the only highway that links Nepali capital Kathmandu with China's Tibet Autonomous Region, on Sunday, local government office said.

"A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall from Saturday evening blocked the highway at Halhale area of Sindhupalchok district, some 100 km northeast of Kathmandu," Mohan Wagle, a local administrative official, said in a press statement.

No one was hurt by the landslide, the statement noted, adding, "However, several buses and trucks were stranded on the mountainous route."
