Jordanian King Abdullah II renewed condemnation of the Israeli massive assault in Lebanon on Sunday while pledging to continue cooperation with the international community to put an end to the violence as soon as possible.
In a statement to the state-run Jordanian Television after his meeting with ambassadors of European countries, Abdullah said that Jordan would provide every possible assistance to Lebanon in a bid to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese people and help them cope with the deteriorated humanitarian situation.
"I have followed with great admiration the efforts of the Lebanese people for reconstructing Lebanon and it saddens me today when I see these achievements have been destroyed as a result of the Israeli aggression," he said.
Jordan will stand alongside the Lebanese people and the Lebanese government in the difficult times, he added.
Abdullah also expressed condolences and sympathy to the Lebanese families of the victims who were killed in intense Israeli air raids.
Israel has kept up a large-scale assault in Lebanon, which was launched following the capture of two Israeli soldiers by the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah on July 12.
Jordan has repeatedly called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
