Five Palestinians were killed and eight others wounded on Monday in two separate Israeli artillery shellings on northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian medics and witnesses said.
Witnesses said that a Palestinian woman and her husband were killed and two of their children injured Monday afternoon when an Israeli artillery shell hit an area near an elementary school in Beit Lahya town in northern Gaza Strip.
Earlier in the day, three Palestinians were killed by an Israeli tank shell in northern Gaza Strip.
Two civilians were killed when one Israel-launched shell landed at the entrance of a building north of Jabalya refugee camp.
A third one, who was in critical condition after sustaining wounds in the shelling, died shortly after he was taken to hospital.
The attacks came shortly after Palestinian militants fired several homemade rockets at Israel.
