Vietnamese General party secretary reiterates anti-corruption

Nong Duc Manh, General secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), restated on Monday the importance of strengthening the party leadership in combating corruption and wastefulness on CPVCC's third plenum (10th tenure).

Fighting against corruption and wastefulness is the urgent demand of society and the people, also is the political determination of the party. Strengthening the party leadership in combating corruption and wastefulness demonstrates the highly political resolution of CPVCC, Manh said.

He also said that they (the party leaders) had the responsibility of bring forward a few steps, which will be practical and effective, to battle against corruption and wastefulness, so as to consolidate the trust of the people to the party, and construct a uncorrupted and powerful party.

Moreover, Manh mentioned other issues such as clarifying regulations about allowing party members to do business.

The CPVCC opened its third plenum Monday, to touch upon various issues, including anti-corruption, and business doing of party members.

Recently, the CPVCC has attached great importance to drawing lessons to restrict and push back bureaucracy, corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena within the party and the whole political system.
