U.S. completes survey of Czech locations for possible missile defense base
font size

U.S. military experts on Tuesday concluded a survey of three locations for a possible American missile defense base, the Czech Defense Ministry said.

The 22-member team examined three military sites, said Jan Pejsek, Defense Ministry spokesman, in a statement.

He added that all three sites were deemed suitable for the base.

The site, once chosen by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, will be the first American strategic missile defense base outside United States territory.

Analysts say the base is designed to defend Europe against intercontinental-range missiles, primarily from launch points in the Middle East.
