A Palestinian was killed and two others were wounded by an Israeli artillery shelling on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Palestinian medics said.
Yasser Abu Zaher, 12, was killed and two other Palestinians were injured when an Israeli tank shell landed near a group of people in al-Qarrara district of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, said the medics.
Earlier reports said that the incident occurred near Gaza City.
Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources and witnesses said that about 50 Israeli tanks and armored vehicles, backed by military helicopters, pushed about 500 meters into Gaza via the Kissufim commercial crossing on the Gaza-Israel border.
Elsewhere in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Israeli army jeeps surrounded the headquarters of the Palestinian military intelligence, Palestinian security sources said.
Witnesses said that Israeli soldiers were calling via loudspeakers on those who were inside the compound to surrender.
Over 100 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched a massive air and ground offensive into the Gaza Strip on June 28, three days after Palestinian militants kidnapped an Israeli soldier and killed two during a cross-border attack.
