EU presidency says attacks against UN personnel unacceptable
font size

The European Union (EU) on Wednesday labeled Israel's attacks which killed four UN observers in southern Lebanon unacceptable and demanded a full investigation into the incident.

"Attacks against UN personnel are unacceptable," said a statement released in Finland, which currently holds the rotating EU presidency. It also called for an immediate and full inquiry.

Israeli forces struck the UN building on Tuesday in the southern Lebanese town of Khiam killing four UN military observers, who were Austrian, Canadian, Chinese and Finnish nationals.

The EU Presidency again urged all parties to join efforts to seek an end to the conflict that has already left hundreds of civilians dead and many more wounded.
