Poland's deputy defense minister to be replaced
font size

Boguslaw Winid was to replace general Stanislaw Koziej as Poland's deputy defense minister, a defence ministry spokesman said Wednesday.

Winid is currently Poland's deputy ambassador to the United States. He has been working at the Polish foreign ministry since the early 1990's.

Deputy defence minister Stanislaw Koziej said that the reason for his leaving was "differences in the idea of armed forces and the management system."

"I have opted for the General Staff to deal with plan drafting and for the creation of two joint headquarters, one responsible for current management of the armed forces and the second for managing the army in times of crisis or war.

"My idea has not been welcomed and my arguments failed to convince the minister, who supports the view of the General Staff, " he said.

Koziej, 63, is a retired general and is an expert in security and defence issues.
