EU foreign and security chief Javier SOLANA on Sunday condemned Israel's attack at civilians in Qana of Lebanon.
"I have talked to the Prime Minister of Lebanon, M. Fouad Siniora. I have expressed to him my profound dismay and deep sorrow at the attack and the death of innocent civilians in Qana," said Solana in a written statement.
"Nothing can justify that," said Solana, adding that the European Union (EU) is continuously working to reach an immediate ceasefire.
According to the EU's agenda, the 25-member bloc will hold an emergency meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels on August 1, which will exclusively focus on exploring way out for the Middle East crisis.
At least 51 Lebanese, including 22 children, were killed in an Israeli air raid on the village of Qana Sunday morning, the deadliest single Israeli attack since the conflict began 19 days ago.
