Jordanians protest against Israeli attacks on Lebanon, Palestine
font size

Hundreds of Jordanians took to the street in Amman on Monday to protest against Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.

The march, initiated by opposition parties and professional associations, started from the Professional Association Complex in western Amman and headed for the UN office.

The protestors staged a one-hour sit-in and handed over a petition to the office to call for an immediate ceasefire.

The petition asked the United Nations to hold an emergency meeting to discuss Israeli aggression on the Lebanese and Palestinians and asked for immediate aid supplies to thousands of Lebanese and Palestinians evacuated from their towns as a result of the conflicts.

It also called for the implementation of UN resolution 194 which states that "refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date."
