Car bomb hits joint U.S.-Iraqi patrol in Baghdad, 7 wounded
font size

A car bomb went off near a joint U. S. and Iraqi patrol in eastern Baghdad on Tuesday, wounding seven people including three Iraqi police commandos, an Iraqi Interior Ministry source said.

An explosive-laden car parking by the side of a road in the Zaiyounah neighborhood detonated at about 12:20 p.m. (0820 GMT) when a joint U.S. and Iraqi military patrol was passing by, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Three Iraqi police commandos were wounded along with four Iraqi civilians, the source said.

It was not clear whether the U.S. troops sustained any casualties, he added.

Earlier in the day, a suicide car bombing in the central Baghdad district of Karradah killed 10 people including two policemen, two Iraqi soldiers and two traffic policemen, and 22 other people were also injured.

Insurgents continue attacking U.S. forces and Iraq's security troops in Baghdad despite a massive security clampdown in the capital.
