U.S. soldier killed in bomb attack in Baghdad

An American soldier was killed and another wounded when a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in south of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.

The two soldiers, assigned to the 16th Corps Support Group, were traveling in a convoy on Monday when they attack occurred, the military said in a statement.

The name of the killed soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement added.

More than 2,570 U.S. military personnel have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count.
