Lebanese Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh called on Tuesday for the forming of an international tribunal against Israelis accused of committing war crimes during Israel's aggression in Lebanon, the official SANA news agency reported.
Salloukh made the appeal during a short stay here en route to Malaysia where he would attend a special meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on the situation in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.
Reiterating the call for an immediate unconditional ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon's Shiite group Hezbollah, Salloukh urged the Israeli forces to withdraw back to the Blue Line, a border line drawn by the United Nations after Israel pulled out its troops from south Lebanon in 2000, to make the Lebanese refugees who fled the battle zone return home as soon as possible.
The foreign minister also called on all the Lebanese to maintain solidarity while appealed to Arab nations to unify stances to confront the Israeli aggression.
"Although the United States and France have put forward proposals on resolving the current crisis in the U.N. Security Council, no one could force them upon the Lebanese people," Salloukh said.
"The proposals should be approved by all the Lebanese people," he added.
