Greece says not asked to send peacekeeping force to LebanonThe Greek government confirmed on Tuesday that it has not discussed or been formally asked to contribute troops to a multinational peacekeeping force in Lebanon. National Defense Minister Evangelos Meimarakis told reporters that all discussions so far were at a theoretical level, adding that if such a request is made based on a U.N. Security Council decision, then it will be a serious matter. He underlined that the government has set specific parameters such as a relevant U.N. Security Council decision, the consent of both sides in the region and a ceasefire. Source: Xinhua |
