U.S. President George W. Bush discussed efforts to reach a UN Security Council resolution on Lebanon with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan through telephone on Friday, White House spokesman Tony Snow said.
The two leaders spoke for about 15 minutes, Snow said, without providing details, according to U.S. media reports.
Bush is now in his ranch at Crawford, TX for a 10-day vacation.
The United States hopes the UN Security Council to pass a resolution on Lebanon calling for a cease-fire between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah as early as next week.
However, it is not immediately clear whether the resolution will include calls for an immediate cease-fire as demanded by the international community.
