Suicide car bombing kills 10 in northern Iraq

A suicide bomber on Friday blew himself up on a sports field in Hadhar, a town 90 km south of Mosul in northern Iraq, leaving 10 people dead including three Iraqi policemen and 12 others wounded.

An officer said on condition of anonymity that the attacker rammed his explosive-laden car into a police post protecting a football match.

"He drove into the police guarding the entrance to the pitch, and blew up," the officer said.

On Wednesday, a soccer field in Baghdad's Amil neighborhood was also hit by two bombs, killing 10 people and wounding 15, with many children among the casualties.
