Palestinian militant groups fought back by firing five homemade rockets on Israel targets Saturday, vowing more rocket attacks as long as the Israeli incursion into the Gaza Strip continues.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah movement, claimed responsibility for firing two homemade rockets at Israeli city of Sderot before dawn "in response to the continuation of the Israeli aggression", the group said in a statement.
The same city was hit again by homemade rockets fired by the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) and the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and the armed wing of the Democratic Front Party said they had carried out a joint rocket attack on an Israeli army post in the southeast Gaza Strip.
The rockets were launched despite Israeli ground offensive in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah, where 16 Palestinians were killed since Thursday morning, including a girl and a three-day- old baby.
Hamas armed wing said its fighters fired a rocket propelled grenade at an Israeli army bulldozer in Rafah on Saturday.
