Russia beat China 3-0 in volleyball World League

Russian men's volleyball team dismantled Chinese opponents 3-0 Saturday in a Group C match at the World League.

Russia won the home match 25-12, 25-17 and 25-22 in spite of the endeavoring of young Chinese players.

From the first minutes the team of Russia "pressed" the Chinese team with their powerful serves.

By the first technical time-out the Russian players led 8-3. And the Russian team continued to dominate on the block.

In the second set the Chinese team improved their block and serves and once led 8-5. But substitutes Konstantin Ushakov and Aleksey Ostapenko turned the situation over to give the Russian team the second set win.

The third set was a seesawing battle between the disciples of Zoran Gajic and Zhou Jianan. Serbian Gajic again made successful substitution to enter Kosarev, Abrosimov and Korneev to seal the victory.

In another match of the group, host France lost to Italy 3-2 (29-27, 25-27, 21-25, 26-24, 19-17).

After seven rounds, Russia top the group with 13 points with a 6-1 record while France (12) and Italy (10) stand in second and third respectively. China lie in the bottom without winning a single match.
