The Iranian Foreign Ministry said Sunday that any resolution adopted by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Lebanese crisis must be "fair," not one-sided, the official IRNA new agency reported.

The objective behind passing a UNSC resolution should be to resolve the current crisis in Lebanon, so it has to consider the views of all the Lebanese sides, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid- Reza Asefi told reporters at a weekly press conference.

"The resolution on Lebanon should be supported by the Lebanese groups," said the spokesman.

"The resolution should not be passed only for directing the world public opinion's pressure from the U.S., the Zionist regime and Western states to the Lebanese side," he said.

He stressed that the resolution "should no longer allow Israel to continue its aggression and must stop it from brazenly ridiculing international norms."

Asefi said that Tehran will support any plan endorsed by all the Lebanese groups.

The UN Security Council discussed on Saturday a U.S.-French draft resolution that calls for "full cessation of hostilities" between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon which have been involved in a bloody conflict since July 12.

The draft calls for "a full cessation of hostilities based upon, in particular, the immediate cessation by Hezbollah of all attacks and the immediate cessation by Israel of all offensive military operations."

The Security Council is expected to hold more rounds of consultations on the draft before it can be put to vote. UN diplomats said they expect the council to adopt a resolution in the next few days.

A second resolution is expected to follow in a couple of weeks after the first one is adopted, setting conditions for a permanent ceasefire and authorizing an international force.
