At least 10 Israelis killed in rocket attacks
font size

At least 10 Israelis were killed and several others seriously injured in Hezbollah rocket attacks on Kfar Giladi, a community near the northern Israeli town of Kiyat Shemona, on Sunday morning.

Officials of a communication center set up by the Israeli government in Haifa told Xinhua that the area which was hit by rocket might be a military zone, so it was not clear whether there was any soldier in the casualties.

But Israel TV Channel Two reported that the dead were all soldiers. Spokesperson for the Israeli army said that the authenticity of the information was yet to be proved.

Magen David Adom (Israeli Red Cross) officials said that all the seriously wounded have been evacuated into Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

A Xinhua correspondent reported from the scene that the roads leading to Kfar Giladi have been blocked by the army shortly after the bloody rocket attack, and more rockets could be seen landing near the area.

Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post said that the area hit by the rocket was a gathering spot of the Israeli army, and the rocket

directly hit a crowd of people.

The daily, citing witnesses, reported that the barrage lasted for more than 15 minutes, and at least two rockets directly hit houses.

On Sunday morning, rockets also landed in the northern cities of Nahariya, Karmiel, Rosh Pina and Safed, sirens could be heard constantly across northern Israel.
