Israeli airstrikes kill 14 Lebanese civilians
font size

Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon killed 14 Lebanese civilians and wounded dozens on Monday, Lebanese security sources said.

A three-storey building in a village near Sidon, a main town in south Lebanon, was destroyed in an Israeli air raid early on Monday and seven members of the same family were killed, said the sources, adding that five other people were also wounded.

Meanwhile, one Lebanese civilian was killed and over a dozen were wounded in an Israeli strike on the Ghaziyeh village, close to Sidon.

At least three Lebanese civilians were killed in a separate Israeli air raid on the Kfar Tebnit village, also close to Sidon.

Israeli military planes also pounded the Haruf village and the Nabatiyeh town, killing three civilians altogether.

At the same time, the Israeli army launched several airstrikes in and around the southern Lebanese port city of Tyre, said security sources.

Israeli warplanes also struck Beirut's southern suburb, a Hezbollah stronghold.

The intense Israeli bombardments came one day after Hezbollah rocket attacks on northern Israel killed 15 Israelis including 12 reservists.

The massive Israeli assault against Hezbollah entered the 27th day on Monday and Lebanon said over 900 Lebanese, most of them civilians, were killed.

Over 90 Israelis have also been killed in the violence which erupted on July 12 when Hezbollah guerillas kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight during cross-border attacks.
