Tourists to Tibet rise sharply

Tibet Autonomous Region has received more than 390,000 tourists that spend the night there up to July 31st since the operation of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway on July 1st, according to the new statistics issued by Tourism Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region.

Zha Nuo, deputy director of Tourism Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region, said that the Qinghai-Tibet Railway has brought a new turn of "Tibet tourism boom". Tibet has received 16,700 overseas tourists in July that is 47% more than the same period of last year, while the number of domestic tourists in July is 374,000 that is 50.1% more than the same period of last year.

Foreign exchange income from tourism of Tibet in July has reached US$ 9.78 million, that is, 23.8% more than the same period of last year.

The total income of tourism of Tibet in July is 435 million Yuan, that is, 43.7% more than the same period of last year.

Moreover, it is difficult to buy the tickets for the trains passing in and out of Tibet and Potala Palace.
