Malaysian FM not happy with UN draft resolution on Mideast

Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar Tuesday said he was unhappy with the United Nations' draft resolutions on the Lebanon-Israel conflict.

The draft resolution, jointly prepared by Paris and Washington, seems to reward the aggressor, said Syed.

"I think we must not look at Israel only. We must also look at what Lebanon wants. I think it is unfair, imbalance and unjust to just look at what Israel wants," Syed told reporters after attending a flag-raising ceremony on the 39th ASEAN Day in the Malaysian administrative center of Putrajaya.

"The world should not be dictated just purely by Israeli desire but it must be incorporating justice and fairness in the international system," said the minister.

Meanwhile, Syed said he was happy that the Arab League foreign ministers met Monday and came out with a strong statement backing Lebanon's cease-fire plan.
