At 10:39 a.m. on Monday, after over 30 hours' of painful childbirth, Giant panda named Zhang Ka, 6 years old, gave birth to a 0.218-kilogram male panda in the Chinese Giant Panda Protection and Research Center of Wolong.
The baby panda is the heaviest giant panda up to now that is born under the condition of artificial breeding as well as the second giant panda in the world that is born in 2006.
Both the giant panda mother and her baby are in good health at present.
Zhang Ka was born in the countryside and her weight is 103 kilograms. It was the first time she give birth to a baby.
The whole childbirth period of Zhang Ka lasted 34 hours from the outflow of amniotic fluid to delivery due to the large figure of the baby panda and her first time giving birth.
Moreover, the lasting time of Zhang Ka's childbirth has initiated the longest record in the history of the delivery of giant panda, according to Zhang Hemin, director of Chinese Giant Panda Protection and Research Center of Wolong.
