font size

Beijing on Wednesday started the construction of a new subway line to incorporate the Capital International Airport into its metro domain.

The source with Beijing Subway Corporation said the new subway line will measure 28.1 kilometers and is planned to be completed on April 1, 2008.

The line will start from Dongzhimen and there are all together four stations along the line.

Passengers could interchange from Line 2 and Line 13 to the new line at Dongzhimen Station and interchange from Line 10, which is also under construction, to the line at Sanyuanqiao Station.

The Capital International Airport is located at the northeastern part of Beijing, which is about 25.35 kilometers away from the Tian'anmen Square. It usually takes at least one hour to arrive at the airport.
