Liang Jiahong became the first Chinese man ever to reach a 100 metres final at any World Championships or Olympic Games.
The 18-year-old Liang Jiahong performed an outstanding second half to outshine the rest of the field and finish with 10.48s, the slowest winning time of today's semifinals but still good enough to rewrite history.
After the race Zhenyu Li, the reporter for People's daily online got a fast break with Liang Jiahong.
Zhenyu Li: How do you feel about tonight's game?
Liang Jiahong: It's OK, I am not too surprised to have made it to the final. I expect I could achieve better in the final.
Zhenyu Li: Could you explain a little bit about tomorrow's final?
Liang Jiahong: I know the final competition will be very fierce but I reckon I could manage in the top three.
Zhenyu Li: What do you think of your Chinese counterpart Xiang Liu?
Liang Jiahong: As he won the Olympic gold medal, it came to me that nothing is impossible. If he can do it then so can I.
Zhenyu Li: Thank you for your concern.
