Commemorative coins for IMF-WB meetings launched in Singapore
font size

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Friday launched a set of two commemorative coins for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors.

"The coin design features Singapore's skyline, which represents the unique accomplishments of Singapore," a statement issued by the MAS said, adding that the map of the world with the lion symbol pointing to the location of Singapore, as well as the event logo, is also seen on the coin.

To be issued on Sept. 5 this year, each of the coins, either silver-proof or cupro-nickel proof-like, has a par value of five Singapore dollars (about 3 U.S. dollars).

While a total of 10,000 pieces of silver-proof coins are minted and the mintage of the cupro-nickel proof-like coins is based on demand, only 2006 two-in-one Coin Sets will be available, according to the MAS.

Some 16,000 delegates and visitors from 184 countries and regions are expected to come to Singapore to participate in the IMF-WB meetings and related activities in mid-September.
