Hamburg defender Boulahrouz set to join Chelsea

Chelsea has agreed an undisclosed fee with Hamburg SV for Dutch international defender Khalid Boulahrouz, the Premier League champions said on its website on Friday.

Boulahrouz, 24, will travel to London at the weekend to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

Boulahrouz, who joined Hamburg from RKC Waalwijk in August 2004, was outstanding at the heart of the Hamburg defence last season when they conceded only 30 goals in 34 Bundesliga games.

He was in the starting line-up for the last two Dutch World Cup games in Germany, a 0-0 draw with Argentina and the 1-0 defeat by Portugal in the second round.
