font size

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak held talks with visiting Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Egypt's port city of Alexandria on Monday, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.

The two leaders exchanged views on the latest development in the Middle East, particularly the situation in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, MENA said.

Mubarak and Sabah also talked about the ongoing efforts to realize stability in the region after a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah took effect on Aug. 14 in line with a UN- brokered resolution, it added.

The two leaders are to hold a second session of talks later in the day, according to MENA.

The Kuwaiti Emir arrived in Egypt earlier on Monday for a two- day official visit and he is scheduled to visit the United Kingdom, the United States and Cuba, aiming to explore new horizons of cooperation with these countries, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

The Kuwaiti Emir will be the first Arab leader to visit the U.S. since the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, said KUNA.
