Swedish Foreign Minister Jan Eliasson said on Wednesday that Sweden is ready to help Lebanon clear mines, rebuild roads, and restore electricity.

But he was "doubtful about" sending troops to Lebanon, the foreign minister said.

A foreign ministry release quoted Eliasson as saying that with soldiers in Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Africa, Sweden has "limited resources."

Eliasson, who also serves as president of the UN General Assembly, welcomed Italy's offer to lead the UN force and provide up to 3,000 of the estimated 15,000 troops needed for the mission.
