Visiting Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas met on Wednesday with Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis over the situation in the Palestinian territories.

According to Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan Attalla Khairi, the two men discussed means of helping the Palestinians overcome hardships facing them due to continued Israeli offensives on the Palestinian lands.

Meanwhile, Abbas met with Indian peace envoy Chinmaya R. Garekhan over the situation in the Palestinian lands and the formation of a Palestinian unity government.

The meeting also dealt with a meeting to be held by the UN Security Council in September on the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Abbas is here for a meeting of his Fatah movement on the possibility of forming a unity government with Hamas.
