Chelsea upset at Middlesbrough, Manchester United beat Charlton

Mark Viduka scored a dramatic late goal to give Middlesbrough a 2-1 win over champions Chelsea on Wednesday while Manchester United made it two wins out of two and Martin O'Neill secured his first win as Aston Villa manager with victory over Reading in the English Premier League matches.

Chelsea slumped to their first defeat of the season, as Middlesbrough came from a goal down to beat Jose Mourinho's men at the Riverside.

Andrei Shevchenko fired Chelsea in front with his first goal in the Premiership on 16 minutes.

Emanuel Pogatetz drew Boro level on 80 minutes and Viduka won the game for Gareth Southgate's men in the final minute to stun Chelsea and give Southgate his first success as manager.

Manchester United proved too strong for Charlton Athletic at the Valley, running out 3-0 winners to maintain their 100 percent record.

Darren Fletcher sent United on their way with the opener on 49 minutes and Louis Saha doubled the lead six minutes from time.

El Hadji Diouf looked to have given Bolton the win when he netted from the penalty spot on 73 minutes after Gary Speed had been pushed in the box.

Bullard rescued Fulham when he kept his cool from the spot to score his first goal for the club after Abdoulaye Faye had handled inside the box.

Tim Cahill's late strike secured Everton a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Benni McCarthy scored his first goal for Rovers to give them the lead on 50 minutes, but Cahill popped up six minutes from time to earn Everton a share of the spoils.

In the final match of the night, Manchester City were held to a goalless draw at home to Portsmouth in a drab encounter at Eastlands.
