Abducted Fox journalists expected to be free soon: spokesman
font size

A Palestinian Interior Ministry spokesman said on Saturday that two Fox journalists kidnapped by unknown militants were expected to be freed in the coming few days.

Khaled Abu Helal ruled out reports that the two journalists had been killed by the unknown militant group calling itself Holy Jihad brigades.

The group claimed on Wednesday responsibility for the abduction, demanding that the United States release Muslim prisoners held in U.S. jails within 72 hours.

Abu Helal said that efforts were underway to help release the hostages, adding that the journalists were well and unharmed.

On Aug. 14, Fox correspondent Steve Centanni and cameraman Olaf Wiig were snatched by unknown gunmen near Palestinian security services headquarter in Gaza City when a truck intercepted them and forced them out of their vehicle.
