A Comair flight carrying 50 people crashed near Lexington's airport, Kentucky Sunday morning, killing all on board, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said.
Comair Flight 191, a CRJ-100 regional jet with 47 passengers and three crew members, crashed shortly after taking off, FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.
Local television said the accident occurred just after 6:00 local time (1000 GMT), and emergency crews were on the scene.
The plane was leaving Lexington's Blue Grass Airport, bound for Atlanta, when it went down in woods about a mile(1.6 kilometers) from the city's airport, the CNN television said.
Comair is a unit of Delta Air Lines Inc.
