Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Monday sent a message of condolence to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice after a U.S. plane crashed on Sunday killing 49 people onboard.

In the message, Li said he felt great regret over the tragedy and expressed deep sympathy for the families of the victims.

The Atlanta-bound Comair Flight 5191 with 50 people onboard plowed through Lexington airport perimeter fence and crashed in a nearby field before bursting into flames. Only one person survived with serious injuries.
