Israel warns its citizen to leave Sinai Peninsula

Israel's Counter-Terrorism Bureau on Tuesday evening issued a statement warning all Israelis visiting Egypt's Sinai Peninsula to leave the region immediately.

The statement said that the threat of kidnapping Israelis on the Sinai beaches became extremely severe and concrete in recent days, adding that the security condition of Israeli tourists either visiting or staying in Egypt, including Sinai, had become really worrying.

The statement also cautioned Israelis in Turkey, which suffered a series of terror attacks in recent days, to stay in their resort places and hotels and refrain from visiting crowded places, adding that at this stage it was unclear whether the attacks would continue.

In addition, the statement recommended Israelis abroad to downplay their Israeli identities, refuse gifts, and prevent unidentified strangers from entering their hotel rooms.

In April, the Red Sea resort of Dahab in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula suffered a serial terror attack. Dozens were killed in tree explosions.

Shortly after the Sinai explosion, Israel's Interior Ministry issued similar statement urging the Israelis remaining in Dahab to go home as soon as possible.
