A U.S. soldier was killed in a roadside bomb attack in north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement on Thursday.
A U.S. soldier, assigned to the 1st Brigade of Infantry Division 34, was killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion during conducting security operation to secure a road in an area in north of Baghdad at about 12:05 p.m. local time on Aug. 30, the statement said.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
Since the U.S.-led war in Iraq started in March 2003, more than 2,620 soldiers have been killed in the war-torn country, according to media count.
