Twenty-one doping tests are to be conducted during the women's softball worlds and all the 15 participating teams will take at least one test, as the tournament organizers said.
According to the event organizers, the ISF (International Softball Federation) stipulates that each of the participating teams will take one doping test during the seven-day preliminaries of the World Championship and the top three teams will take two tests each.
A testing laboratory designated by the event organizing committee confirmed the teams to be tested two days prior to the tournament. In-competition test athlete will be chosen by drawing lots when the game goes into its fifth inning. The second round tests for top three teams will be conducted on the last day of competition
The ISF has reached an agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency on carrying out doping tests during ISF softball competitions.
According to the regulations, a total of 22 tests are to be conducted for the Beijing softball worlds. Due to the withdrawal of the Colombia from this tournament, the number of tests is reduced to 21.
