Unknown gunmen opened fire at a bus carrying Shiite pilgrims in south of Baghdad on Saturday, killing 11 Pakistanis and three Indians, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"Unidentified armed men ambushed a bus carrying foreign Shiite pilgrims while travelling on the 160 Road near Karbala, some 110 km south of Baghdad," the source said on condition of anonymity.

The attackers opened fire at the bus killing eleven Pakistani pilgrims and three Indians, he added.

Iraqi security forces rushed to the scene and ambulances evacuated the casualties to the main hospital of Karbala, said the source.
