Bulletproof WC installed in Beijing

An 800,000-yuan bulletproof WC installed in Zhong Guancun Plaza in Beijing opened on September 3. However, Beijing's citizens are giving this new kind of washroom a wide berth. The latrine is a product of the 9/11 incident, and is one of a series of pubic security products that have been developed as part of an anti-terrorism strategy. The latrine weighs 15 tons. If a bomb were to be detonated inside the latrine the explosion would be contained.

The latrine's instructions are written in English and French. Some citizens will not go in because they are unfamiliar with both languages. The Chinese translation was completed on August 25.
