Anti-government militants in their efforts to destabilize security in the post-Taliban Afghanistan attacked a police patrol in northern Parwan province some 70km north of Kabul, an official at the office of Interior Ministry spokesman said Monday.
"The enemies of peace ( a term used against Taliban) attacked a police patrol in Koh-e-Safi district late Sunday night killing two policemen," the official told Xinhua but refused to be identified.
Meanwhile, a resident of the area Shuaib told Xinhua that police chief of the Koh-e-Safi district Hajji Gul Zaman was killed and one of his bodyguards was wounded in the attack.
It is the first time that militants carry out attack on Afghan police in the north of capital city of Kabul.
