The 'Xinnuo 2' satellite, China's first large telecommunications satellite with an anti-jamming mechanism, will be launched by the 'Long March 3B' spacecraft from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center at the end of October. The satellite was examined and approved before leaving the production facility at the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense on August 4.
'Xinnuo 2' will be the first geostationary satellite to be launched by a new, younger generation of scientists and technicians. The satellite has 10,000 watts of power. It will be deployed by a high-powered transponder with a 22-circuit Ku frequency band. It has been designed to last 15 years. 'Xinnuo 2' will enable live television to be broadcasted to the Chinese mainland and other regions including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
The satellite has reached the level of international telecommunication satellites in the 1990s.
'Xinnuo 2' will meet the needs of broadband multimedia, audio and video frequency as well as mobile telecommunications.
